There’s no rule that fireworks festivals have to be on in summer, which means we can enjoy fireworks on a crisp autumn evening on the Arakawa Riverbanks close to Akabane Station.
What happens?
Around 10,000 fireworks will be shot into the sky to music from popular anime shows over the last decade. The opening ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. before around 10,000 fireworks burst into the sky at 6:45 p.m. It will all be over by 7:30 p.m.
Where can I see the fireworks for free?
There will be a free viewing area, but the closest area to the launch site will be reserved for paid seats that start at around ¥2,000 per person — purchase via Pia.
The free viewing area is split into two sections, one will open at 3 p.m. (Area B) and the other at 4 p.m. (Area A).
How to get there
The organizers recommend coming from Kita Akabane Station if you are aiming for the free viewing area, but both paid and free seating can also be accessed by Akabane Station in 20 to 25 minutes (although it is expected to be very crowded).
The fireworks will be set off from Iwabuchi Watergate Baseball Field.
No bicycles or other vehicles are allowed near the area on the day.
