Originally a Nakameguro event from way back in 2014, the Blue Cave is now a Shibuya highlight each winter. 2023 will see it hold a Christmas market for the first time.
What happens?
This year’s 800-meter display will feature around 770,000 LED lights (guess what color) stretching between Shibuya Koen Dori and Yoyogi Park (just south of Yoyogi Park Events Square) and a Christmas market selling toasty yuletide treats and crafts.
It can get unexpectedly busy. In the past, around 2 million visitors were counted in a single month, so embrace the crowds (not literally, we’re all about personal space) and consider it part of the experience.
Schedule 2023
The Christmas market will be open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the lights will turn on from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.- 0.7 km from Harajuku Station Yamanote Line (JY19)
