Shinjuku MARZ were the first to bring South American cumbia music to Tokyo in the 90s, and they’re continuing that tradition to this day.
Some of the most popular cumbia artists from around the world have performed on their stage. And now, the Japan Cumbia Festival has a mix of up-and-coming and renowned artists ready to blow you away one more time.
What to expect
South American cumbia music is a mix of rhythm and traditional folk music from Colombia. It’s been kept alive with modern twists from a cadre of talented artists. Halfway across the world, Tokyo’s music scene has a pet love for cumbia and Shinjuku MARZ is feeding that love.
Expect 8 hours of cumbia artists and DJs putting their unique twist on this age-old music. Drink themed cocktails and authentic food from Claudio Olmos, chef at the Embassy of Argentina, and immerse yourself in Hispanic culture.

Tickets
Tickets are ¥4,300 in advance, or ¥4,800 on the door, with one drink included. You also get a ¥500 discount if you’re coming from out of town. They’ll ask to see your travel receipt to reimburse you, so hold on to it.
