Also known as the Goddess Festival, this annual event held in the area around Jiyūgaoka Station was established in 1973. It’s incredibly popular and attracts nearly half a million visitors.
What happens?
There are wine and food stands with fall specialities, and vendors galore to go along with the wide variety of musical performances. Surrounding roads are closed to cars, making this a pedestrian’s heaven, and it’s great fun for kids. Some stage shows will require a reservation.

The Megami Matsuri starts around noon and runs late into the night.
How to get there
The venues are a short walk from Okasuwa Station, and literally right outside Jiyūgaoka Station. While you’re in the Jiyūgaoka area, also check out the fashion stores, patisseries, and the Italianate architecture of the La Vita outdoor shopping complex.
