The Itabashi Fireworks Festival is always a good show.
What happens?
Roughly 13,000 fireworks are expected to go off this year — and there should be some colorful characters and flower shapes in the mix. Technically the festival is two fireworks shows in one — the Todobashi Fireworks Festival and the Itabashi Fireworks Festival — taking place on the opposite banks of the Arakawa River.
The event goes on for 1 hour and 30 minutes. There are reserved seats and general sitting areas at the venue.
Where can I see the fireworks for free?
The seating just in front of the fireworks venue on the Itabashi side is all paid and starts from around ¥4,500. More details here. But if you want to go see the fireworks in true Cheapo style, then head for these spots: the grassland area just next to the paid seating (20 minutes from Takashimadaira Station), Ukima Park, or the roof of Aeon Itabashi Shopping Center (you’ll need a numbered ticket for this, so go early).
Currently, the Toda Koen side is all free seating.
How to get there
The nearest stations are either Takashimadaira Station, Nishidai Station, or Hasune Station — all have around a 20-minute walk. The most convenient station may depend on where you want to sit. Check here for more information.
For the Toda Koen side, get off at Toda Koen Station and walk around 20 minutes to the river.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.Add to Calendar
